Product Spotlight: Candle Care

Atise natural candles are hand-made using only the finest ingredients available, and we recommend the use of a few simple tools, to maximise burn quality. The Wick Trimmer and Wick Dipper make caring for your candles so easy. For a small one-time only investment, this clever duo can be used over and over again!

Wick Dipper

Avoid blowing out your candles, as this may create smoke and increase your chances of making a mess by splashing wax. To extinguish the flame, it is best to use the specially designed Wick Dipper.

Simply dip the wick into the melted wax to extinguish. Once the flame is out, use the hook to gently stand the wick in the upright position, ready for its next use.

Votive Candle Tip!
Before using votive candles, place a teaspoon of water into the votive holder. This will assist in the removal of wax residue once the candle is burnt.

Wick Trimmer

The Atise Wick Trimmer has been especially designed to trim wicks and remove debri in one simple action. To get the most out of your candles, always trim the wick to 4-5mm before relighting, to remove the burnt 'mushroom-shaped' end. A longer wick may produce unnecessary smoke and cause your candle to burn faster, thus shortening its life.

Additional Tip

Light candles only when you have time to achieve a full melt pool. This is where the liquid (melted) wax reaches the wall of the candle jar or tin. Burn times will vary depending on the size of your candle, however as a general rule allow a minimum of three hours on the first burn. Candle wax has a memory. If you extinguish your candle before reaching the full melt pool, your candle will only burn to that same diameter on the next burn, leaving a build-up of unused wax around the edges.

This is an example of what NOT to do.

See that wax build up around the wall of the jar? This candle wasn't burnt long enough to achieve a full melt pool.

Product Spotlight - Atise Soy Tealights and Votives

The majority of candles on the market are made out of paraffin, a petroleum-based product. Atise is proud to offer a genuine alternative to paraffin wax candles. Our beautiful selections of hand-crafted fragrant candles are made from 100% natural wax and are free of added colour and paraffin.

The healthy way to illuminate your life

The soy wax used in Atise Tealight candles comes from sustainable and renewable agricultural sources, an environmentally preferable alternative to paraffin. Due to the low melting point of Atise soy candles, fragrances are released into the air sooner, and they last longer.

Atise Soy Tealights 12pk $19.95AU/$24.95NZ

Available in over 30 fine fragrances plus unscented, each tealight provides 4-5 hrs burn time. That's only approximately 50c an hour!
About Soy Wax
Farm grown soybeans are crushed to separate the soybean meal from soybean oil. 100kgs of soybeans yields approximately 81.5kgs of soy meal and 18.5 kgs of soybean oil.
The soy meal contains the protein content of the soybean, so is processed into foods for human consumption such as soy milk, tofu and meat substitutes used in food like veggie burgers. The remainder of the soy meal is used in animal feeds.
The soybean oil can then be made into soy wax by a process of partial hydrogenation.

Votive Candle Tips

Soy wax is water soluble and can be easily cleaned from glass, metal, cloth and other material. Place a teaspoon of water in the votive glass holder before inserting the votive candle as this will assist in the easy removal of any wax residue.

Atise Soy Votives 6pk $29.95AU/$34.95NZ
Available in over 25 fine fragrances plus unscented, each votive provides 12-13hrs of burn time.

Product Spotlight - Atise Wall Sconces

Atise wall sconces are superb feature pieces defined by durable wrought iron with strong lines and stylish patterns. Romantic detailing makes each piece a dramatic focal point on any wall, indoors or out.

Atise wall sconces are available in three styles that complement each other and can be used together in the same living space, or in different parts of your home or garden.

Artistic Iron
Wrought iron is sometimes described as the 'artistic iron' because it is highly sculptural and stylish. Even though it is inspired by the traditional craftsmanship of the blacksmiths of yesteryear, it is still a very contemporary decorative material today, enhancing many homes and gardens.

Decorative Tip
Sconces are often used in hallways or corridors to provide both lighting and a point of interest in a long passage. Sconce height in a hallway is generally three quarters of the distance up the wall, as measured from the floor to the ceiling. The distance between sconces on the wall is generally equal to the distance of the sconces from the floor, frequently on alternating sides of the hallway.
